More about the Badin Inn Golf Resort and Club

Lets go back in time to early 1920’s in Central North Carolina.  Our troops are home from Europe, the country is prosperous and Central North Carolina is changing.  In 1913, a French company began work on a dam on the Yadkin river to generate electricity for an aluminum smelter.  They laid out a design for a town to house their workers including a “boarding house” for men without families.  In 1915, Alcoa bought their interests and implemented many of their plans and designs.  Badin offered steady work, modern housing, great schools and health facilities; all owned by Alcoa.  Badin is a unique example of a “French-flavored” company town, designed and built as America industrialized.

Pay a visit to one of our three excellent museums to learn more about the company town that once had 9,000 residents, an Opera House, the first indoor shopping mall and supplied our country’s insatiable appetite for aluminum products.  In the early 1920’s, a golf craze swept the nation and Alcoa allocated land for a course.  The Badin Golf Club selected a protege of the legendary Donald Ross from nearby Pinehurst, VC Edminster, to design the course.  In the 1960’s the club, then known as the Stanly County Country Club, expanded.  The original boarding house became the clubhouse and is now the Inn.

Back to the Future:  The Badin Inn Golf Resort and Club is committed to providing its members and visitors with a true Central North Carolina family experience.  We’ve been careful to preserve and refurbish many of the original historic features.  Our local staff doesn’t have to be taught how to practice Carolina hospitality-it comes naturally to a Badin resident.  We purchase local meats, seasonal vegetables and fruits to give you a taste of Central North Carolina and feature popular North Carolina wines & micro-beers.  The Inn has been a popular spot for weddings, community events and parties for decades.   Ask your server for information and feel free to stroll the premises and visit our historic Inn.

Our Pledge

We use the freshest local produce, poultry, & beef available.
